in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge
Gatlinburg's Midnight Parade steps off at 12:01 AM — the first Independence Day parade in the country — and the fireworks come off the Space Needle that night. Stay close enough to walk back after. One of the highest-demand weekends of the year, so book early.
Independence Day is one of the most exciting times of the year in the Smokies. Gatlinburg kicks off the holiday just after midnight with its famous Midnight Parade down the Parkway, then celebrates again that night with fireworks over downtown. Pigeon Forge hosts its own festivities and fireworks, too.
A cabin makes the holiday easy. You get a quiet place to rest up before a late night downtown, a grill for a Fourth of July cookout, and room for the whole family to celebrate together.
Our guide to the Fourth of July in Gatlinburg covers the Midnight Parade, the fireworks, and tips for finding a good spot. Downtown gets crowded, so arrive early and consider riding the Gatlinburg Trolley or reading up on downtown parking before you go.
During the day, beat the heat with a trip to Dollywood's Splash Country, a rafting trip, or one of the best swimming spots in the Smokies.
A private indoor pool or pool access is a summer favorite, and our large cabins have room for the whole family. We have July 4th cabins in both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
The parade starts just after midnight as July 3rd turns into July 4th, and it travels down the Parkway through downtown Gatlinburg.
As early as you can. The Fourth of July is one of the busiest weekends of the summer.
