What began as one cabin has grown into a regional institution across Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville, and the from-scratch approach hasn't changed along the way.

The story

It starts on a hike, before the first snows of winter, when founder Brent came across an old log cabin homestead in a foggy mountain clearing. The memory of his grandmother's pancakes — made from scratch the way grandmothers always did — came back to him.

He went home and worked out the recipes for a breakfast cabin that would welcome guests the way she always had. The first one opened, hikers and mountain visitors found it, and word spread — as he puts it, just like syrup on a pancake. More cabins followed.

The food

Everything is made from scratch, pancakes included, and the flavors lean into Smoky Mountain comfort.

Signature items include the Sticky Bun Pancakes topped with pecans, cinnamon glaze, and cream cheese icing; Grandma's Peanut Butter & Banana Pancakes; and the Mountain Blueberry Waffle. Gluten-free pancakes are available.

Beyond the pancakes, the menu covers Southern breakfast properly — Elkmont Egg Platters with eggs cooked to order and your choice of meat, Cabin Skillets loaded with eggs, meats, vegetables, and cheese over hash browns, Strawberry & Cream French Toast, and the classic sides. A kids menu is available, and high chairs are provided.

• Order ahead for pickup. Online ordering is available at all three Gatlinburg locations, which is the fastest route to eating on your own deck
• Arrive early on weekends. The 7 AM weekend opening is your best shot at walking straight in during peak season
