Pigeon Forge Parkway · Hand-cut steaks over an oak fire

Alamo Steakhouse in Pigeon Forge is a Texas-inspired steakhouse on the Parkway, known for aged steaks that are hand-cut in house and grilled over an oak fire. It's one of the town's go-to spots for a big steak dinner after a day at Dollywood or in the mountains.
The Pigeon Forge restaurant is the sister location to Alamo Steakhouse in Gatlinburg, and both are run by the Johnson Family of Restaurants, a local, family-owned group whose motto is "Let Our Family Feed Yours." The family got its start in Pigeon Forge in 1991 with Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que and now runs several restaurants across Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg.
Steak is the reason to come. Alamo ages its steaks, hand-cuts them in its own kitchen, seasons them and grills them over oak, which gives them a smoky flavor you won't get from a gas grill. The menu covers the classic cuts, including filet mignon, ribeye and New York strip, with a few house specialties that put a Texas twist on the steakhouse standards.
Prime rib is a favorite, but it's available in limited quantities, so come early if it's what you're after.
Not everyone at the table has to order a steak. The menu also includes chicken dinners, oak-grilled salmon, shrimp dishes and dinner salads, along with burgers made from beef ground in house. Soups, sauces and gravies are made from scratch.
Appetizers and sides
Start with something to share from the appetizer list, which runs from shrimp and dips to Texas-style potato bites. Entrées come with a salad and a side, with classic choices like mashed or baked potatoes and steamed broccoli, plus premium sides you can upgrade to.
Dessert
Save room. The dessert menu leans Southern and homestyle, with cobbler, cheesecake, cake and pie.
Alamo is a comfortable, casual steakhouse, so you don't need to dress up, and kids are welcome. There's a kids menu with smaller portions, and a lunch menu as well as dinner.
Traveling with a big group? Alamo has private booths and a large private dining room, which makes it a good pick for family reunions, church groups, wedding parties and celebration dinners. Call ahead to ask about booking the room.
Alamo is popular, especially on summer evenings, fall weekends and holidays, when the Parkway is busy and families are all looking for dinner at the same time. You can join the waitlist online from your phone before you leave the cabin, so your table is closer to ready when you arrive. The restaurant also takes reservations, which is the easiest way to plan for a larger party.
Arriving a little before the dinner rush is another easy way to cut the wait. An early dinner leaves time for an evening at The Island or a show afterward.
There are two Alamo Steakhouses in the Smokies, and it's easy to mix them up when you search. The Pigeon Forge restaurant is on the main Parkway at 3050 Parkway, convenient to Dollywood, The Island and most Pigeon Forge cabins. The Gatlinburg Alamo is on East Parkway in Gatlinburg, a longer drive from most Pigeon Forge cabins, especially in Parkway traffic. Both share the same family, the same oak-fired cooking and much of the same menu, so pick the one closest to where you're spending the day. If you're staying in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville, the Pigeon Forge location usually means less driving and less traffic at dinnertime.
Alamo is right on the Parkway, so it pairs easily with the rest of a Pigeon Forge evening. Follow dinner with a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, a round of mini golf or a late show. Browse more Pigeon Forge attractions to plan the rest of your trip.
